Taxes? We don’t need no stinkin’ taxes!

In order to save our children from a future of debt, we will also end the tax breaks for the wealthiest 2% of Americans. But let me perfectly clear, because I know you’ll hear the same old claims that rolling back these tax breaks means a massive tax increase on the American people: if your family earns less than $250,000 a year, you will not see your taxes increased a single dime.

— President Barack Obama, State of the Union Speech, January 2010

When are people going to wake up and realize that these plans and rhetoric do nothing but HURT the economy and all Americans? Who are those people over the $250k mark? The business owners that employ the majority of Americans! Will the top end of that group ever see more taxes going the government? NO! They will find loop holes (or have them created for them by the politicians). It’s time to end all this bickering back and forth over “tax this group, don’t tax that group (at least not where it shows)” and move to a fair tax system (assuming we need one at all – but that is another rant). Pretty much the cost of everything in life is based on the amount that is used. Electricity, water, books, cable, internet, etc. Why shouldn’t taxes be based the same way? No income tax needed (and no IRS, but maybe that is the problem – oh-oh here comes the audit). The more you spend the more you are taxed. Simple. Everyone pays a portion that is directly related to their needs and desires. Simple, but maybe it is too simple for all those lawyers in Washington.

End Rant.
